Tantra and Healing

Tantra is in vogue right now as a way to have great sex...and usually precious little more. While there's no denying it can accomplish that, stopping there ignores the real power of Tantra, reducing it to something to write about in fake Penthouse letters. On another level are the spiritual changes that can happen for someone willing to move beyond the purely physical. The sense of oneness with my partners and with the universe that Tantra has brought me has changed me a little each time--and a great deal overall.

Tantra slso generates a huge amount of very pure and powerful energy through the raising of Kundalini; that energy can be channeled into union with the One, but it is also a potent force for healing, and a natural partner with chakra work and other energy-healing methods. A simple grid of Tantric twin stones like the one pictured to the left can capture and store Tantric energies very efficiently. In my experience, the stones transmute the Kundalini to prana (a natural energy to them), which can later be used in pranic healing sessions.

Healing also happens naturally in Tantric union, even on the purely physical level. Tantric sex awakens the Kundalini energy that lies in the Base chakra; without spiritual focus and intent, it rises no higher, but it can work profound healing on the areas of the body and mind that chakra governs. With spiritual intent, the Kundalini does rise; in full Tantric union with partner and univese, it passes through all the chakras before finally reaching and beaming out of the chakra above the head, forming a web of energy that is both part and product of the union. This complete flow through all the chakras can have profound physical, mental and spiritual benefits. With focus on using that energy for healing, the effects are even more intense and life-altering.

The field of Tantric healing is a broad one, encompassing many possibilities. Because I prefer to work with prana and stones, I've focused most of my learning and exploration in those areas; the potential for energy-healing practitioners of any type are virtually endless, because the energy generated by Tantric union is the healing energy of almost all methods, or can easily be converted to the necessary form. In committed and trusting partnership-- whether sexual or one of platonic healing and mutual support--people can literally heal one another with the power of love.
